Text messaging remains top service for mobile phone users
I personally uses sms more than making calls. The reason of me using sms to communicate is due to the fact than it's cheaper. The cost to make a phone call using mobile phone is really high. I would rather travel to the person place or use house fixed line to make a call to that person if i do really want to talk with him.
International Data Corp (IDC) said its survey showed that less than 10 percent of mobile phone users are utilizing services other than the reliable short messaging system (SMS), or text messaging.Well, as expected.
"The challenge therefore lies with service operators and mobile phone vendors to educate and accustom the market to the value proposition of such services and mobile devices that come with affordable price tags."Pricey product don't sell, unless there's no other choice =/
IDC's survey covered 4,056 urban Internet users in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.Well, i guess the statistic will still be the same if it covers wider area.
Mobile phone penetration rates also rose sharply in 2005, IDC said, with the number of respondents who owned mobile phones reaching 90.2 percent, up from 80.2 percent in 2004.No wonder there are more and more RND being made to enchance the technology of it.
"SMS (remained) as the most popular mobile data application, with 65 percent of the users sending text messages every day," IDC said.Hrmm... i remembered once my friend told me, sending sms isn't good to brain. But it seems pretty.....
