THE SOFTWARE giant known as Microsoft has confirmed that its origami project is to be the hardware it will use to try and bruise Apple’s iPod.

Vole spinners salted a marketing website with film of an early version of the Origami earlier this week to see what people thought of the idea.

A spokesVole said that the final portable media device will allow users to listen to music, play video games, browse the internet and jot hand-written notes. The Origami that was put on the site was more than a year old and will look nothing like the first release.

The "Origami" has more functions than the iPod, but has the downside of being a bit bigger. In fact the comments from Vole confirmed our view that Microsoft had dusted off its old tablet PC idea.

The viral marketing of the project has begun here [http://www.origamiproject.com] registered to Microsoft it touts the product with cryptic messages like "do you know me?" and "do you know what I can do?"

The website promised to disclose more information today, but Microsoft has said that there will be no announcement this week about "Origami". It seems that Vole is copying Apple’s trick of secrecy in the hope that it will generate enough rumours.
