Mac shareware makers make today 'Child's Play Day'

Independent Mac shareware developers are donating the proceeds of their sales today, Dec. 7, to the Child’s Play charity, which raises money and toy donations for sick kids in hospitals. The effort is called Child’s Play Day.

Child’s play was set up by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, creators of the popular video game-focused webcomic Penny Arcade. Child’s Play has raised over a million dollars in donations of toys, games, books and cash since its inception.

Vendors participating in Child’s Play Day include Delicious Monster, makers of Delicious Library; SlingShot maker Martion Technology; Code Sorcery Workshop, the developer behind the Pukka del.icio.us bookmarking software; VoodooPad maker Flying Meat and almost a dozen others. All of them will donate all of the proceeds from sales they make on their software titles today, Dec. 7, to the Child’s Play charity — all you need to do is buy a license, like you normally would.
